Squeaky Brakes
High-Pitched Noise Every Time You Stop? Time to Check It Out.
Squeaky brakes can be annoying—but they’re also trying to tell you something. Whether it’s a little squeal or a full-on screech, it’s worth getting checked before it turns into a bigger issue.
At Greer’s Auto Repair, we’ll inspect your full brake system and let you know what’s actually worn out.
Common Reasons Brakes Squeak
- Worn-out brake pads
- Cheap or glazed pad material
- Rust on rotors from sitting
- Missing hardware or loose parts
- Caliper not releasing properly
What We Do at Greer’s

Inspect pads, rotors, calipers, and brake hardware

Check brake fluid and line condition

Test for uneven wear or sticking components

Recommend the real fix, not the expensive one
We’ve seen all of it—and we won’t try to sell you new brakes if you don’t need them.
Why Tallmadge Drivers Trust Our Diagnostics
We know the difference between harmless noise and a real brake issue. Our techs inspect the full system, show you what we see, and only recommend repairs you actually need. No pressure, just straight-up answers.

Squeaky Brakes FAQs
Not always, but often. Sometimes it’s surface rust or cheap pads, but persistent squealing usually means it’s time for an inspection.
It could mean your pads are worn down or glazed. It might also mean your rotors are uneven or your calipers aren’t releasing fully.
If it’s just light squeaking, you might be okay—but if it gets louder or turns into grinding, stop driving and get it checked before you lose braking power.
Some squeaking is normal during the break-in period, but if it lasts longer than a few days or gets worse, it could be an install or part issue.
We inspect the full system—pads, rotors, hardware, and calipers—and replace or service what’s needed. Quality parts and correct install are key.

I was stuck in traffic and saw Greer's and decided to call to price out brakes on my 2021 Buick Encore. I was going to have a friend do the brakes, but was very hesitant due to all the electronics involved with my rear brakes. I called on Friday and Monday they were replacing my brakes and rotors. I will definitely continue to use them for my auto needs in the future!
